    Hi All,

Complete newbie to the group here. I am in desperate need of some help. Just bought my GT725-210uk (yay, birthday present to myself) and had it delivered today. So excited, my first gaming laptop upgrade in over 4 years (yeah, I was down to playing just Civ 4 really haha).

Anyway, it's been fine all day (from 10am) until about an hour ago, the screen froze (I was writing an email in IE8, YahooMail, with Crysis demo d/l in the background, nothing else). CTRL ALT DEL did f-all, and everything had frozen. So I did a hard shutdown by holding down the power button.

Tried to turn it back on, and nothing. The half moon power light comes on, and the power button lights up, then a couple of seconds later it shuts down. If I have the power cable in (even though the battery is fully charged) it does the same lights thing, but it stays on and the fans start up, but nothing on screen, and no further progression.

I made recovery disks at the beginning (for once) but it's not even getting so far as to read them. Total blank screen. No Beeps Of Usefulness. Nothing.

I'm so gutted, I can't even tell you. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

    Yours in Hope.

    The Saddened Birthday Girl

PS - let me know if I should be posting this somewhere else, couldn't really see a "OMGMYLAPTOPSFSCKED" thread ;-)

Does it make a beeping sound when you turn it on? If it does, you might have a loose hardware.. Else, (I hate to say this) you have to return your notebook to your vendor.

Hi Xenile. Sadly, not a peep. Not even a diagnostic beep. Also, tried the static reset thing (battery out, power cable out, hold down power button, replace battery & cable) but to no avail.

I think it's proper flupped. I just can't believe it died like that for no reason. I cling to the hope someone may have had this prob and has a fix... I think that sounds like a lost cause! Thanks for your reply.

Try testing the RAMs. Take out one first then put it on the first slot. Turn on your laptop. If it doesn't work, put it on the second slot. If it still doesn't work get the other stick and do the same processes as you did with the first stick. If nothing still happens, I dunno what kind of test you can do.

Thanks for the suggestion, sadly the MSI warranty sticker prevents me from opening up the bottom of the laptop where I'd need to get to the RAM. So until it's out of warranty, I guess I'm stuck with waiting for them to open it up :(

Ho - gave that a shot, but sadly nothing happening on the other display. Starting to think it must be graphic card related.. Hmm.. Thanks for the thought.

Yeah I guess that would be your best bet. It's better to return it to your vendor and ask them to replace it instead of being a giant paper weight. They might even give you a new one! :D
