GT725 Catalyst 9.2

Hi all

How can I install the new catalyst 9.2 driver on my GT725? The Mobility 4850 isn't supported by the the most driver mod tools at the moment.

Has anyone an idea?

You clould try just the driver without the catalyst install through a custom driver only extract.

 

How did you go Tenchu47? I've only recently worked this out myself and can show you how it's done if still need assistance?

 

Wow! You have succesfully installed the driver on your gt725? This is great!!! Can give a hint how to do that? No one was able to help me by now...

I already performed steps 1-2 on the 64-bit driver, you can do steps 3-4 with this file I posted in another thread:

After installing the new driver it still shows 8.52 in the device manager. Is that normal?

 

The 32 bit drivers show version 8.582 for me.

 

Is that because of the modified inf file? How can i make shure that the 9.2 is really installed?

But btw did you notice any real serious improvement on your gT725 passing from 8.52 to 9.2?

I can't see how the modded inf would influence what driver version is returned... but worth looking into. I can check the actual system files if someone could tell me what unmodded 9.2 reports. I can confirm that when updating the driver Vista warned me about installing an "uncertified driver"... seemed legit to me.

The funniest thing is that the reason I was so determined to get the 9.2 cats installed was because neither 3dmark or Vantage would run with the original drivers... and they still don't! Vantage throws up an obscure error msg and 3dmark just goes nowhere from the initial "scanning system" splash screen. Perhaps I could download the crysis benchmark app and give that a go? I have run the HL2 lost coast bench and get 180fps avg, but probably doesn't tell you much.

 

I had no problem with both drivers to finish 3dmark2006 and vantage. That must be an other problem. Have you overclocked the ram in the bios? I had failures with 20 percent overclocking CPU and 800mhz ram setting... because the overclock setting has also an effect on ram..

But again: Why does the device manager not show catalyst 9.2? That makes no sense for me....

 

The catalyst package is "9.2" but the drivers contained within aren't... they are all over the shop. So version 9.2 refers to the version of the driver package, not the display driver itself.

I tried running vantage and 3dmark at stock speeds, no luck. I've not had any issues playing any games thus far, so hopefully the problem is not faulty hardware.

 

This evening I'll try with 3dmark.
I'll inform you if anything goes wrong.

 

Got 3dmark06 running, just broke the 10k mark so well pleased!

Now to get vantage working...

 

Yeah, from what I gather Catalyst is supposedly a monthly driver release drop, so presumably 9.2 == February 2009 release, 9.1 == Janurary, 2009 etc.

That confused me for a minute too when I was reading the numbers that people were reporting for their drivers from the control panel or hardware/device manager or other util.

Any benefit to the 9.2s over the default driver?

Faisalhero was running 3dmark as well as others in the thread, but no idea which drivers they were using at the time or if they had any problems.

 

There's more than a few people in the futuremark forums reporting crash issues with vantage... no explanation or fix at the moment. At least 3dmark06 runs now... not quite sure what changed to make it work...

The 9.2 cats do have some performance increases, particulalry in crysis. Apart from that, a fair few fixes as well. Worth installing IMHO.

 

9.2's gave me an 8% FPS boost under DX10 in Crysis under Windows 7, for what it's worth.

If you're showing 8.582 you're running Catalyst 9.2.
