I'm in another thread where I've mentioned my dillema where I mistakenly deleted recovery partition and now they want me to buy the recovery drive. I have a full image on my thumb drive through burn recovery....isn't there some sort of way of extracting that recovery media from the drive? I am no longer able to download burn recovery even though it would make things a whole lot easier...I'm not really sure why it's not available other than to charge people $35 when they shoot themselves in the foot. Look...I get I made the initial mistake, but I'm just curious if there is a way, or if there is some sort of recovery suite that I can use to recover the deleted partition since I haven't written anything additional to it since? If anyone can help me, THANK YOU.

Is there a particular reason you are needing that partition? I usually prefer a clean install with updated drivers directly downloaded from the manufacturer :)

I mistakenly deleted it...and intstead of sending me the recovery drive without charging me for the OS I ALREADY paid for, they want me to send it in for repairs for 1.5-3.0 weeks...but I just got done saying to them in an email...doesn't it make more sense to do it my way, send the drive out and if it fixes it it ends up making me happier because I don't have to send it in and I have my computer back in factory condition and them happy because it cost less than any repairs would've ended up costing them unless they just send it back as it arrived. Waiting to see what they say.....thanks for taking the time though.

I've had really great things to say about this machine so far....I LOVE it...but from day one their customer support feels like it needs a bit of an overhaul...like it's almost always a response read off the FAQ on the site if you call or write them....I'm not meaning to offend an msi reps on here....you're on here...and that already beats most of the effort the tech support makes 9/10 times...yesterday I seemed to have gotten lucky with 2 guys who sounded like they knew A LOT about computers but most of the CS/TS isn't NEARLY that confident and competent with regard to the tech behind these awesome computers.

I guess I was just pointing out that you can download everything needed to reinstall OS and all drivers and programs, MSI website and direct from Microsoft. That would be my preferred method vs. using a recovery partition or disk. We are also on this forum and can help as best we can :)

The OS discs are no longer provided by many manufacturers since the OS was already present in the system and you were allowed to make backup copies of it upon receiving the product.
MSI does not charge their customers for the OS but rather the cost of goods and services provided.

And the key is stored on the BIOS, so burning a copy of windows to a disk or USB is something end user can do at any point.

One thing though, there could be a proprietary software cannot be downloaded due to license restriction where they are only available as pre-installed condition therefore only the factory image would have it.
