    Hi all,
I've been working and trying to upgrade my GT70-ONC laptop from the gtx 670m to a 1060 for a while now without much success. I've had the help of @woodzstack (who I purchased it from) as well, but I think we're both running dry on ideas for getting this running properly.

The main problem holding this back is that I can't seem to get the Intel HD 4000 driver installed while the 1060 is installed without the laptop crashing and resetting. I've been able to get a modified nVidia driver installed successfully after a fresh load of Windows 10 and disabling DSE, but when I go to check the nVidia control panel, it doesn't detect any screens being attached to it, even if I add an external. I've tried installing the Intel HD driver with the old 670m still installed, shutting down and swapping in the 1060, but on boot that causes the laptop to crash. I've also tried installing the Intel HD driver without any GPU installed and get the same result. I've also tried changing the order of the driver installs and updating the UEFI BIOS. I've tried both drivers from MSI's support site for the laptop as well as a couple versions of the HD 4000 driver from Intel's site.

Has anyone else had any experience with this setup or have any other ideas on how to get this running?

    Thanks!

Update your bios, and firmwares, the MSI forum has people who are specialists in your laptop and unlocked bioses for it as well.

Essentially if you can not get the HD Intel installed, your out of luck, it might be an indication of something wrong as well. AFAIK, it should install, it's literally a requirement, and is built into the CPU, and I think without it you also will not be able to access the external displays if they rely on the driver for the HD Intel being installed (not sure if they are required on that particular laptop).
