GT70 Dragon Edition here. I was playing Counter Strike and entered a lobby. Immediately I heard some very raucous noise apparently coming from my mic (which was not on). It sounded like a robot malfunctioning or something. I'm not sure if that's what caused it, because before that I had my volume low so would not have noticed. But, the subwoofer is now totally dead. Only the speakers work (which are the wrong pitch on their own) and volume max has been drastically reduced.

I reinstalled the proper drivers. No effect. I checked all Windows sound settings, reset everything to default, disabled the THX software, and so on and so forth. No activity whatsoever coming from the subwoofer.

Luckily, I got it 20 days ago so I am able to return it, but I'm concerned that this could happen again with the second one. Any thoughts?

Since there isn't a 2.1 settings option in the Realtek HD Audio Manager it should be set to 5.1 to test the sound coming from the side speakers and the subwoofer.

I'm using v6.0.1.6844 of the Realtek HD Audio driver.

Here's my Realtek HD Audio Manager Setup.Click on the sub and side speakers to see if you get sound.A stereo setting is only for 2 side speakers.

Sounds as though it wasn't your mic but your speakers - they may have been turned up too high and been blown consequently.
