Forgive me if this is a basic question, but I don't know much when it comes to displays. I just bought a Dell U2412M which has a max resolution of 1920x1200. I'd like to hook it up to my GT70-0NE, but the monitor came with only a VGA and DVI connector, while the GT70 seems to only have HDMI and VGA. I'd like to avoid using VGA, since I read the quality is a lot lower, but I have a few questions that seem difficult to get answers for:

    1) If I get a DVI to HDMI connector, will the monitor still be able to display 1920x1200? I've read conflicting reports online, with some saying it's fine will others say it can only support a maximum of 1920x1080.

    1) Apparently the monitor has DisplayPort and for some reason people prefer to use this. Is this preferable to DVI/HDMI? My GT70 doesn't seem to have DisplayPort. Is there any way to connect using this?

Basically, I'm wondering if I can get this hooked up without VGA, while still displaying at 1920x1200, and without a significant loss in quality. If not, it sounds like I need to return this and get a 1920x1080 monitor.

The best bet is a DVI to HDMI cable since connectors can bend the connector or not fit the monitor.

    1920x1200 should be ok.

The cables are cheap so give it a shot.
