I am trying to build a linux system.
I really do not need the 770 or the 780 vidoe cards.
I can't find a single config anywhere on the internet that has all 3:
(a) no preinstalled windows 8
(b) GTX 765M
(c) GT70 chassis.
What I really want to upgrade is get lowest latency ram no more than 8GB and the 4700 cpu together with the screen upgrade. I also don't need SSD or more than 500 GB 7200 rpm.
But almost all configurators require buying windows or installing a 770 or 780, which I don't need at all. I just want the most solid chassis. The single fan can't really prevent the 770 and 780 from overheating if there is no airconditioning in the room (not necessary where I live but sometimes in the summer ...) and I need the most reliable chassis that is offered, just not the video card upgrade or windows.

Is something with the chassis incompatible with the 765M or is this merely to avoid sub 1700 cost GT70 configurations (like the Thunderbolt Sager configs require a 780 and won't allow a 770)?

If you are not going to be taking advantage of the gfx card then it wont even kick on so the single fan solution wont be an issue what so ever. Even if it does in the dead of summer the gfx card wont burn out, it will simple downclock.
And if you want one without windows or OS or fancy ssd or anything go to powernotebooks. Their power pro is the GT70 barebone.
***also keep in mind that this machine is super super new and linux drivers and support are still very very poor so you prob wont have linux drivers for every component on it. This is a gaming notebook and as you know, gaming on linux as your primary machine is not a great idea. If your looking for a linux based super solid notebook, I would go with an IBM.
GT70 chassis with 765M?
