I was trying to use a flash drive in one of the ports. It wasn't working. I researched the Internet and found if I uninstall all of the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, then reboot Windows it would reinstall all of the drivers. Now Windows 7 won't install one driver which I then ran through the troubleshooting which came up as:

    IUSB3\ROOT_HUB30\4&5A330E1&4

Unknown device doesn't have a driver [IMG]

    Error code: 28

The USB 2.0 ports will work. Now all of the 3.0 ports on the left side of the laptop do not.

I've tried to uninstall all of the USB Controllers several times over.

Edit: So there wasn't any real solution to this, but I did solve it with ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility) similar to Windows system restore.
Once I reverted back a couple of days all of the USB 3.0 ports worked!

Now in the USB Controllers is added: Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub which wasn't there before. :)

Good to know that you were able to resolve this. But why not consider to switch to Windows 10 instead as Win7 is going to be EOL by end of Jan?

I knew that question was going to be posed to me. I don't want to be controlled by Microsoft any longer. I am considering on switching over to Linux but it's going to be a whole new world.

So with that I would then ask is everything in the laptop going to work as it did on Windows? I have an older GT70-0ND model.

    Thanks

Linux is hard to say but should still work as they are more mature (with better support) than before.

Well what I am going for is a dual-boot system on the GT.

I still need Windows 7 for legacy programs which I use for work, but I mostly need Linux (thinking of going with Mint unless you have another suggestion) for applications through internet access.

Also I can rid myself of anti-virus & malware programs! :)

Have you thought about running VirtualBox on the system since it's pretty powerful?

There is virus and malware on linux as well, it isn't magic..

Even worse if you are new to it, and almost all info/tutorials just ask you to slap random lines into the terminal always with sudo..

I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the information!

It seems that we have swerved off the original subject and I do apologise for that. :D
