    Hi there,

I am looking to upgrade from HDD to SSD but don't wish to give up a HDD that I already have so I'm looking at getting a caddy for the optical bay. (I have 2x HGST 7k1000's in right now)
I've read a few posts on the matter and I'm still unclear about them. On one post I have seen that people have removed the faceplate to put on the caddy and has said that they broke one of the tabs. Is it really this much of a pain to replace the optical drive with a caddy?

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
    Plur.

EDIT: I've just seen in HWinfo64 that the dvd drive is running at sata1 speeds (1.5Gb/s). Would this be the same with the HDD if I was to install a caddy?

You wouod put the ssd in the slot next to the gpu and the hdds in the other and optical caddy. The latter two would run at sata ii speeds. It can be a bit fiddly replacing the plate but if you are patient you can do it without damage.

Thanks Meaker! I will definitely be careful when removing the faceplate.
