Ok, can someone please make sense of this for me:

    1. If you go to MSI Global GT70 2OC, msi claims that Sound Blaster Cinema produces surround sound to a stereo headset. This does not work for me. I have tried C.O.D. as well as actual surround sound test files and all I get is stereo sound when I use a stereo headset.

    2. If you go here MSI Global GT70 2OC and click "utility", then "Win8 64", you will see "Sound Blaster Cinema AP" and "Sound Blaster Cinema EQ". The "Sound Blaster Cinema EQ" appears to be a dead file, it won't launch and doesn't install anything. I called msi tech support and spoke to bullters who claimed they'd look into it and call me back - that was well over a month ago.

    3. If you go to the Canadian site, there are different drivers, even though the msi sold in Canada is the same as msi in the U.S.! MSI Canada GT70 2OC-010US and go to Utility -> Win8 64 and you will see THX AP and THX EQ instead of the Sound Blaster Cinema stuff.... What the heck is THX??

heya- while I'll have to look into the exact nature of the problem with the headset, I can answer one question you had pretty easily. The "THX" listed on the drivers site is, believe it or not, probably the same company whose logo appears in movie theaters before screening begins (you know the one that plays that famous "Waaaaahhhh" sound). Creative owns THX nowadays, and this is the same company that makes Sound Blaster. The SB Audigy 2 was the first sound card made THX-certified.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. But yes, please let me know if you manage to get virtual surround sound on a stereo headset using an msi equipped with SB Cinema. Thanks.
