hi all, can anyone let me know if they have upgraded gt70-0ne with dual-SSD system disk running windows 7 to windows 10?
I am still running the BIOS and have not upgraded to UEFI that was available on the support site for windows 8. I don't want to upgrade this if I don't have to - is anyone running 10 with the original BIOS?

You can run Win10 in legacy mode (which is what you currently have), and does not need to be in UEFI mode.

Thanks Kevin. I did the upgrade retaining BIOS only and it worked.
(edit - issue below I found drive on realtek site worked - V10.0.370.102 driver, all good now!)
I have an issue post upgrade - Realtek PCI card reader is recognised but won't activate in system control panel. I tried downloading the Win 8.1 64 bit drivers from MSI page but no good.
    message is:
The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

does anyone know a fix for this on GT70 0ne?

I have noticed another issue - the keyboard lights are no longer working in windows 10. I now have no driver issues present in system control panel, and reinstalled the win8 version of KLM for GT70 0ne from MSI site but still not working.
Where do you get the latest version of KLM, and are they compatible between models? Has anyone got the lights working on Win10 for this model laptop?

MSI no longer supporting KLM so you will not be able to find one that is compatible with Windows 10. This is one of the setbacks that you may have to stick with.

yes, that version of the KLM app now opens up fine and all the different colors and color zone settings work fine. Glad too, as not having backlit keyboard would have been inclined to roll back to windows 7. for the record i had to manually upgrade the intel graphics, the nvidia graphics, the inbuilt realtek card reader and finally KLM, but all is working perfect now.
