    Hi Guys,

Was re-playing Dragon Age II (in anticipation of playing Inquisition) when my system just instantly powered off. It will now no longer turn on.

When the power button is pressed it flashes for a second and then goes off. There is a slight click from inside (the hard drive starting to spin). I have removed the battery and let it sit before trying again with no luck.

I have had a bit of a google around and have not found any solutions. I pulled the back cover off to see if there was anything obviously wrong but could't see anything. I blew some dust out of the fan and tried hitting the power button again. This time i got a few seconds of power light on and the fan spun a bit and then nothing.

As far as i can tell my options are
    1. Its a dead fan that stops the system powering up any further when it fails. Cheap fix, replace ment fans are around $50
    2. The mother board has died. Not so cheap a fix but i have found replacement ones for ~$300.

The system is getting close to 3 years old so i don't see the point in spending too much to get it going again. But would like to hear any suggestions anyone has for what may have gone wrong and how it could be fixed.

    Thanks

    Cam

I suggest replacing the thermal paste and trying from there.
If that doesn't work check the power cord next for breaks.
If you still have no luck try reseating the ram.
if no luck well message me. I might be interested in it as a project system. (but personally if it is a motherboard just spend the money it is worth it for this machine)
