What;s the battery life of the ms-1656 on the 6 and 9 cell batteries? Can i7 be undervolted?

Hmm, battery life will be a tad worse than the Force 3551 due to the i7. So at max around 3.25 hours with 9 cell. And about a little over 2 on the 6 cell. I don't know about undervolting though.

Is that with the 720 or the 820?

That's with the 720, with 820 it will be less, but I don't think that much less. If your looking for battery life though, this is definitely not the laptop for you.

    Really?

I thought I series would be much better due to the disabling of cores when not used and boosting towards single tasks? (And you do get affinity control so perhaps?)

Anyway, for battery life, I5 + igp would be ideal models.

That's what I thought initially (i7 consume more power when their doing work, but it takes it less time to do the work). But from battery life results of i7 laptops as compared with C2D, C2D usually wins =/

... Bummer, I guess I'll be better off dumping a P9700 or P8800 in my laptopinstead of getting the GT640...

Why not look into something with an i5? You pretty much get the best of both worlds. You get virtual 4 cores for those multicore programs that can actually use it and the huge clock speed and battery savings of a dual core (especially if you get a laptop that can utilize the integrated gpu)

It's not like having 8 virtual cores will get you any real benefits in most programs. At least not for another half a decade anyways XD

1 Psyical core, 2 Logitical cores and 2 Hyperthread extentions (Up to 20%) boost at that,

But I5 will serve purpose nicely, although it'd still vouch for an i9-6**m lol, thats the high end dual of duals.

But isn't i5 using an entirely different socket?

    PM55 supports i5 & i7 only , whereas HM55 will support i3 and up.

    That said , The GT640 can support i5 as it's a PM55
