Hey everyone,
I am trying to determine which of those 2 laptops will be better suited for me.
The MSI has a marginally better GPU and is thinner. However, Asus N80 has better warranty and potentially better build quality.
I posted this in the MSI forum because I would like to know the build quality of the MSI GT 627. I know there is keyboard flex, but is the overall quality good?
Both laptops cost around $1400 CAD before. I am referring to the MSI GT627 216US model as opposed to the one with blueray.
Thanks

I think the leap from 9650GT to 9800 GS is more than just "marginally better."
While I know notebookcheck is not the end all be all, I think the 3d Mark 06 scores are relevant.

you also get a bigger screen with the GT627, which may or may not be what you want, as well as the numbers on the right hand side... -
How is the build quality of the MSI? Could anyone let me know?
-
MSI all the way

The main gripe on MSI's build quality is the keyboard flex, but that can either be something you get used to or it can be easily fixed.
And as said above, the leap from a 9650M GT to a 9800M GS is very significant. -
msi build quality is good also no heat problem no noise pro so go for msi gt627 u will be happy
-
Correcto!
So far I've been impressed with MSI GT627 because:
- Heat dissipation is simply incredible. I even game on my lap without any heat problems.
- Build quality seems very nice
- Superior 3D Performance
- BlueRay
The only gripes I've found are:
-Only 2 USB ports
-Keyboard Flex (very easy to fix) -
Aren't there 3 USB ports on the MSI? Ones an e-Sata combo, but it's still a USB no?
-
Forever_Melody that is correct 3 usbs the e-sata port is also a usb port.
also I'm also very impressed with this MSI laptop -

Keyboard flex is fixed easily with double-sided foam tape. Don't let that dissuade you.

@ Forever Melody and Mark121...
Wow I didn't know that there was such thing as a USB/E-sata combo!
Only two USB ports where not enough for me, but now I'm even happier with my GT627!
@NecessaryEvil
Yes that's right! ( lookie here)
Thanks!
GT627 or Asus N80-X5?
