rjtech.com has some intersting news. If you go to that page, and check on the right where it says "News", it says MSI 1651 ID3 will replace its current nVidia 9600 GT 512MB video card with 9800 GS 1GB in April. Still it has a crappy keyboard :[ which is why I dont like the current MSI's latops, even though I hear, and see in these boards that they are very relliable.

I already have a thread started about this..

I am looking forward to this assuming they don't price it moronically like they did when the GX620 was out. If this thing releases at around $599 for the 1280x800 version and $699 for the 1680x1050, we may have something decent to work with, assuming the optical drive comes with it. -
Your right good point, I too am looking forward to this.. Thank you..

Here's what they told me about recieving them:

The new MS-1651 (GT627) barebone is going to be the ID2, same as the current black/silver ID2 model and will have 9800 GS 1GB.
This info is from MSI, as of today there is no eta on this new barebone model. -
It uses the same MB as the original 1651 ID2 correct??

Ok that is good news about the quad core support..
-
If it comes with the silver trim count me in(Red is not my color), quad core support( YES!)Hopefully they will upgrade the keyboard to a better quality one.
I have never had the pleasure of using a GT627 is the keyboard as bad as they say? or is a little over reacting by unhappy owners?
I don't really want to open it up myself to fix the problems with it. -
Is there any update to the MS-1651 (silver trim) getting the 9800 GS 1GB?
~DS -
I heard it was pushed back til late May.
-
Ok, got it. I'll keep checking then. Thanks.

The thing I just found out about the GT627 barebones (silver 1651 ID3 with 9800M GS) is that it does not have a OC button/feature for instant OCing.Bummer

Hey can this model hold dual HDDs?
-
We all wanted MSI to provide a laptop with 2 HDDs, but for now is only a wish.

The new 1651 (GT627 barebone) we were told is going to be ID2 silver/black, ID3 models are red/black. None of the barebone models have an "official" turbo button. The current 1651 has a hidden unmarked touch sensor that will activate turbo depending on the installed bios and firmware. Pretty sure the hidden touch sensor will be in the same position to activate the turbo if the bios/firmware will allow the function in the new model. -

You get everything except the hard drive, memory, cpu, and wireless card.

Is it possible to get the 9800m and a new heatsink separately to upgrade a 9600m GT equipped 1651?
-
Yes it is, I got a 9800m GT and it fits I just need the heatsink modded or the one from the GT725.
-
-
A friend of mine sold me it but I need to find a diffrent heatsink for my 1722 ID2.
