Has anyone come across a keyboard that can fit in place of the normal MSI keyboard, but does not have a numpad with squished buttons?

Was wondering the exact same thing! The GT627 looks like an excellent machine, but I'll be doing a fair amount of typing so a good keyboard is a sticking point for me.

Well from what I've heard its not actually that bad, the keyboard size is not squished too much. If you look at most notebooks you see that the keyboard had a boarder around it, the GT627 keyboard goes all the way to the edge to make room for the numpad, so only a little amount of the normal keyboard gets squished.

I'll tell you more about it on Friday when I get my notebook.

The German released GT627Q (black/silver quad core version) has a slightly improved keyboard:

I assume they will use this improved keyboard for the GT628/GT727 models aswell.
