So no matter what I monitor with, or what I am testing, my FPS is capping out at 31.5. What is going on here? It used to be able to reach higher FPS, but now whether I'm running tests with Kombuster, 3DMark11, monitoring with FRAPS, or AfterBurner my FPS will not go any higher than 31. Games are running smooth, so it makes me think that there is something that is just capping my FPS. I've went through so many setting to make sure I don't have anything capping out at anything less than 60FPS, but its not helping. I've disabled vsync in Nvidia settings as well.

I'm only reaching 5900 in 3Dmark11 as well, and I think this cap might have something to do with it.

    Any Help?

    Thanks

Tried Heaven DX11 but it still caps out. What driver would affect this specifically? I have the latest Nvidia, the latest driver for the on-board card. My 3Dmark11, Heaven, Fraps, and AfterBurner are all updated to the latest software version. I've even tried doing a system restore and went back a few weeks to see if that fixed the issue but it was still capping out at 31.

Did you try the beta driver? NVidia released one early this month.

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 301.24BETA

I suggest uninstalling the one you currently have from your Device Manager, or use a program such as DriverSweeper to ensure you get a clean install.

You can also try doing a manual install of the driver through the Add New Hardware Wizard, and then install the utility over it after if it works. :)

Alright, I tried everything and just got so frustrated that I restored it to a point back in September. I'm sure glad I did cause whatever it changed it fixed the issue. Not only did I get my FPS back, but my 3dMark11 scores are now higher than ever! Man, I must have done something irresponsible sometime between now and September :)

Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope it doesnt happen again.

    Thanks for the help!

I get this 30FPS cap on my GE60 when it's set to power saving mode, did you check that?

I usually have it on High performance, but now that you mention it, I wonder if there was a power setting somewhere that I changed within the advanced settings that had caused the issue. I'll have to make note of this just in case it happens again.

Also, fraps caps the FPS at the recording FPS. Turn fraps off, and use MSI Afterburner OSD to monitor fps.

Okay this is DEFINITELY the power settings that have been corrupted.

Set it to power saver and I get a 30 FPS cap too. Make sure you put it to high performance! Go and change the advanced settings as you might have done something, or a program might have done it for you :p

Yup, you nailed it! I was having this issue again, got scared for a second, then remembered to try the power setting like you guys mentioned and sure enough, after changing power settings back to "High Performance" it works fine again. Man, I wish I would have tried that out before I completely restored my system all the way back to August last time lol. Well at least we know how to fix this now!

Good thing Restore Points don't affect personal data! Glad you got things figured out - and kudos to the NBR users that helped. :)
