Hello everyone, first time poster here.
I have a GT-60 2QD w/ GTX 970m and I love this machine. The only problem, is day out of box, one of the mDisplayPort will not work at all. I called MSI, RMA'd my machine, spent a month and a half at the shop, and still couldn't get fixed. A couple of days ago, I called again and was told that the best they could do was to RMA the machine again, etc.. but at this point, I am a bit skeptical they will make it work, since last time, they even changed the system board and with that and everything, it is still not going.
I can certainly use the HDMI port and ONE of the mDP, but when I plug it on the other one, it will not even pick up signal in the external monitor that was just working with the other two. Anyone came across this issue? Any suggestions?
I tried: imaging the machine to factory OS, downgrade drivers to their version, checked for updates on the BIOS and VBIOS (all up to date)... maybe I am missing something obvious?
Of course this screams SYSTEM BOARD, but they claim they changed it already! Giving them the benefit of the doubt, then I need to roll it out of the equation.
Thanks for your advise.

It won't pick up even if you use that one DP port on its own? Or does this happen only when setting up all three monitors?
-
Not even when is just on its own... Say I am using 1 extnal monitor. One mDP works great, as soon as I in, it just goes. If I switch, it does nothing....
NOW, what is even weirder, is that f I am using an external monitor via HDMI or the working mDP, Nvidia Control Panel will show 2 DP and 1 HDMI in the Physx Surround thingy... so its like weird -
It does sound very weird. I have used my GT60 with triple monitor setup, as well as my GT80, and it both occasions everything worked on the first try. The port itself might be bad, but I don't know.
Did you buy it from a store or reseller? RMA might be the only choice but you will have to ask them test each port individually before shipping it back to you.
I assumed you even tried different cables and monitors right? Though it is just a longshot. Does the nvidia control panel sees the mDP as used even though it is connected? Or is it connected and it gets picked up by nvidia but it is not showing anything? Are you running a custom resolution? -
No custom resolutions... when I plug the cable in, NOTHING happens on the bad port... nvidia doesn't pick it up or anything... if I plug in the good one, it works as it should... I guess you are right, bad port... I will RMA it again.
Thank you for your help though!!! -
