I'm wondering how I should go about buying a couple of SSD to put into this beast.
Right now my eye is on a couple of Samsung 830 512gb drives to put into raid 0. I've heard that only one of the drive slots is SATA3, would this end up reducing the speed of both drives down to the max for SATA2?
I've considered Just having one SSD and keep one of my 750GB Scorpios in the other bay, but it would just pain me to stick anything on the other drive when I have my super fast drive right next to it.

yes, onlu one slot is sata3, 2 raid3ed drives in this will limit speeds to sata2 for the most part. I put 2 750 scorpios in raid and 1 corsair performance pro 256 in the sata 3 bay.

If you truly want ssds in raid 0, then just buy two msatas and put them in raid 0. msata is the same thing as the normal sized ssd.
Two msatas will fit in the sata 3 bay -
Wait, there's a 3rd bay in this laptop that's the sata3 bay (GT60 0NE)? When I installed my second 750gb scorpio I could have sworn I only saw two.

The 3rd drive bay would be where the optical drive is, its sata2. You need a 12.7mm drive caddy to install a harddrive there. You cant install 2 msata drives in the sata3 bay unless u have the super raid adapter which i dont think they sell seperate.
