Hi i have an msi gt60 with gtx680m. I am thinking of getting the gtx780m but i worry it might exceed the 180 watts psu limits. I have tried to install the msi gt60 20D hybrid power on my msi gt60 and it seems be working.

Is it possible to go this route instead of modding or getting a 240 watts psu?

    Thank you.

I have the msi one with the 780m and the power brick is only 180 watts.

Honestly though its a waste of money. The card is what? like 700 bucks?? You want to spend 700 bucks to get like 25% performance increase? Not to mention you can just sell your current laptop, buy a new one with the money + 700 bucks and get a brand new laptop with a 780. Upgrading lpatop GPU's is a complete waste of money.

Your PSU will run the GTX 780M without problems because the new GT60 is still 180W.
MSI Hybrid Power is only useful when you overclock. A 180W PSU can still handle some overclock, but push it too hard and it will exceed that limit and therefor the notebook need to get the power from elsewhere: Battery
