Hello everyone. I already posted in throttlestop thread but cannot find a solution there so I come to MSI forum. My laptop is MSI GS73VR with 6700HQ GTX1060 SSD+HDD 4K screen. The battery life is really short even if nothing is running. I tried monitor the CPU power usage with throttlestop. On idle Core c state can reach and stay in C7 so I assume the problem is not background process. Initially I was stuck at package C2 but after installing Intel AHCI driver I could get package C3. It never moves into C6 or above. Throttlestop shows that package c state limit is C10. Package C6 state should be able to reduce package power from 2.4W to 0.8W.

    I have tried the following:
    disable dedicated GPU
    lower resolution to 1080p
    run on battery
    disable keyboard light
drag windows power slide to left
    update BIOS
    update ME firmware
    update all drivers
    clean install Windows 10
    install dragon center
boot with BIOS implementation test suites, doesn't have c state residency test under explore menu
disable then enable c state in BIOS
    disable the HDD
    unplug any accessory
    airplane mode
    played with Interrupt response limit

Does anyone with GS73VR or MSI laptop in general can get package c6 state?
Or MSI locked it in BIOS?
    Thanks in advance.

Boot to a EFI prompt with https://biosbits.org/
And see if C6 is working there.
If it is, then windows is blocking it.

Just want to make sure, did you load Intel chipset driver from your driver packages?

Intel chipset driver and AHCI controller driver are both installed. In XPS thread the AHCI driver got them from C2 to C6 while on my GS73VR the driver got me from C2 to C3.
