I just set up a new GS73VR. When the computer is first turned on and before I log in, the keyboard is backlit perfectly (left to right). After I log in, the keyboard backlighting changes. The left side of the keyboard is brightly backlit. The backlighting gradually decreases from the left side of the keyboard to the right until the backlighting is gone. I can see some backlighting up to the following keys: Windows flag, forward slash, appostrophe, close bracket. There is no backlighting beyond those keys. I am new to Windows 10 and have been looking at settings. Could this be a setting issue? If so, what setting? Or could my computer be defective? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

The keyboard back light is controlled by the Steelseries engine so please make sure that you have it installed and the open it to adjust the lightning settings.

Tapatalk, this is my first gaming computer. I am not a gamer. I plan to use this computer for work. But this is an awesome computer. I searched the computer for Steelseries engine, but could not find it. I searched the Internet. I found some useful information, but still did not know where to find the Steelseries engine. I decided to look at the user's manual and found out that I needed to install the Steelseries engine, which was located on the disc. Wow, there are a lot of options. I now have some pretty cool colors on my keyboard. I appreciate your reply!

Nice, glad you found it. Anytime you need a driver or utility for your laptop go to msi.com then select support and enter your laptop model number(GS73VR) and then hit search and there you go all what you need to download.

Thanks again! I have another question. I just found out that hitting CTRL + (certain keys on the key pad) cause certain sounds associated with a game. How do I disable those sounds?

Check the hotkey settings of the game since you've mentioned they are associated with game if they aren't Windows sounds.
