I recently bought a lenovo y510p, but it had major heat, and touchpad issues. The touchpad was alright at first, but now it is unusable. The problem with the heat is the fan is always going full throttle now, and I have no idea why. Tried everything to fix it. Anyway. I'm looking for a new laptop, and the GS70 caught my eyes. How hot does it get? How is the battery life? How well does it game? Are there any issues? If anybody could answer any questions it would be much appreciated.

How do you plan on using your computer?
For example, are you a student who needs to have it pretty mobile, or will it be more stationary like a desktop replacement. It is a good choice if you will be moving it around a bit since its thin light. But if you're going to really use it in one spot the GT series would be more powerful performers.

Well, I am going to be bringing it to school everyday, but weight doesn't both me too much. Isn't the cooling in the gt series not so great because of only 1 fan? also, the gs is even pushing by budget by a fair amount. I only found 1 gt in my budget, but it has a 5400 rpm hard drive..

How much is your budget? There's a gt70 dominator at best buy and it's 1399$.

I would say probably 1300 is pushing it.

If you're playing AAA title games that are hard to run, you're going to max out the fan on any laptop you play on. I have a GT60-2OD and the fan is quite loud after 30 minutes of Titanfall.

The single fan in the GT series laptops is better than the dual fans in the GS series because of it's size...at least that's why people on this forum say (I don't have any personal experience with the GS series).

Try the asus g750jw it's starting to become cheap because the new ones are coming out. Best buy has a g750jw with 12gb ram and 765m for 1276$

Getting such a large machine with such a weak GPU seems a little silly though. A machine with an 860M will seriously out perform it.

I understand a laptop being loud under load, but it was as high as it was during load during web browsing etc. I'm actually interested in an MSI, how loud is the fan during web browsing and stuff like that?

GT60 2PC is what you are looking for ;)

GT series fan is really silent while webbrowsing simply light work...
gaming time is really load because of turbo but thats normal for any gaming laptop :)

The fans do produce quite a bit of noise, but it's not bad on the GT series. Some of the competition has louder fan noise at full load. :)

it runs games well and the temps are in an acceptable 70°C range during gaming, i run everything maxed out so far, but i don't play demanding games.
