I plan on flying across the ocean in the next few weeks and having just gotten my GS70 a little bit ago, I realized I really need a spare battery. Seeing as the laptop is NOT really designed for a second battery for easy swapping, that leaves me to use an external battery source. Now my problem is, trying to find a decent external battery that is ALSO compatible with MSi. That last being the hardest part of all to achieve. I don't need to be able to do heavy gaming during the flight, but being able to watch movies on low brightness, some gentle gaming (like minecraft level of processing power), is what I am after. I cannot count on my plane having power (cheap as anything flight), so wanted to ensure I have at least some power for more than 2 hours on my laptop base.

Anyone know of a good external laptop battery that is compatible with my system? Thanks for the help :).

I will give it a shot because I can return it, but that one doesn't list MSI as one of the brands it is compatible with. That was the problem I have had with most I have found. Thank you.

But MSI is compatible with Toshiba so it should be okay.

Will it be an issue since that pack is 125W and my power supply uses 150? I know it won't always pull that, but would it be a recharge, not use and charge function them?

If the unit doesn't get enough juice it will shut off without any warning during the middle of anything.

It worked out, to an extent, mostly due to the fact I had another computer power supply I could use. Toshiba has a tip that flairs out, flexible, so it can be used to charge the computer. Problem is, MSI does not flair, so the adapter is slightly smaller and thus cannot be used to charge the battery. I had to use a Dell power cord to charge the battery pack itself, but the Toshiba tip allowed me to charge my computer once it was charged.

So, wall to battery required a Dell charger (whole thing, not the Dell tip with the battery, so extra purchase type thing), and Toshiba tip from battery to computer

Thanks for the clarification! Did you have any problems charging the laptop while in use? Such as watching a movie or browsing the internet or did the laptop have to be powered down in order to charg? Sorry for all of the questions, ive been trying to decide on a external battery for months now in prepation for a flight im taking this September

Actually, I did not end up using it overtly much. I did notice that running anything intensive, like solid games, caused issues where it seemed to lose charge and not gain it. You would want to try to see which allows it to charge and which doesn't, assuming your power requirement was the same as mine, 150W instead of the offered 125. As long as the computer isn't drawing 150W (which it does on higher settings and use), it seems to do fine. Now if yours only pulls 125W at max anyways (input into computer) should be fine.

Hi, I've been looking for a power bank for my razer blade 14 inch (2013) for a long time. Problem is output of my adapter it's Amp is 7,9A and I haven't seen any power bank which can output that. But I noticed that the adapter of your msi laptop has the same output. So if that power bank worked for you, it has to work for me too right?

There is a 150W DC Inverter, see below.

Thank you for sharing! But an inverter has to be connected to a car or wall to deliver power to the laptop right? I'm looking more for a power bank type of thing which you can charge up and them use it to charge my laptop, any ideas maybe?

    Thanks for the suggestion though!
