Is there any way to control the speed of the fans. I see nothing in the bios and I have downloaded both speed fan and HWmonitor to no avail. Running diablo 3 and it's new expansion the top of the case is getting extremely hot and I am running at around 75 degrees celcius for the video card and 68 for the cpu. I have tried undervolting and was only able to reach -.075 before it would start shutting down so as a result it bared minimal results in terms of heat especially when the cpu is not at full load. I know these temps aren't considered omg hot in terms of shut offs, but it makes me worried that if I run any games that are more intense like skyrim or battlefield 4 that even though hardware wise it can handle it that the heat may become an issue.

I am considering returning this to get the new gs70 or gs60 if I can't get the heat under control (or are those running just as hot)

As a reference point doing a 5 minute stress test the cpu reaches 90 degrees just 10 below the heat cut off point. Now i have yet to actually reach that in real world practice I do want to take measures ahead of time. I got this laptop early without waiting for the new refresh since I do freelance work and my computer went up. Wanted something portable, but able to play games when I need em. BF4, skyrim, diablo 3 and guild wars 2 maybe some final fantasy 14.

Wooooh woooooh slow down bro ...

Temperatures like that are totally PEREFECT ...
... you better be happy that these temp values are not over 85°C while gaming ...

As I read GS70 forum normal temps while gaming are 75-90 ... so you wont get it any cooler ... and those machines were built to handle temps like that for few hours

It's what you get for a more compact form factor. Those temps are perfectly fine. If you are still unsure I would recommend a repaste since MSI are terrible with thermal compound. Note though that if not done properly, you'll get really high temps on both idle and under stress so read up, watch guides, then go ahead.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure because I wasn't even running at full spec for diablo 3 even though i know it can. Shadows on low(smooth) and no anti aliasing. So if you guys say that this is a good temperature I'll trust it. I am not confident on laptops to repaste so I try and figure out solutions tha tdon't rely on opening up the case. I still would like to try and get it cooler if you know of any good laptop coolers that u think won't affect the air flow negatively since this one draws in air differently than a lot of regular laptops that would be great. and if sitll possible the ability to adjust fan speed. I appreciate the feedback.

I dont think there's a program which can override bios fan functions, to prevent problems.
Hmm idk about any good cooler for GS70, in my opinion the one with one big fan not dual fan would be better for GS70 :)

You dont need to worry until the temp will be 90-95 for longer than few minutes ... than there's a serious problem and repasting would fix it :)

Cooling pad is not that effective with GS70 as it draws air from the top.

You can use Nvidia Inspector to limit GPU work to a fps limit or temperature limit. Google

Hey everyone thanks for all the assistance. I bought a coolermaster cooler for when at home just sitting there link below:

I installed the daves fan controller and things are about 5c cooler. Before not at full spec playing Diablo 3 new expansion i was running at around 75 and at full spec 81-82. Now with all that set up the gpu is down to 75 with diablo 3 running at full spec (cpu runs much cooler since it isn't heavily used for that game in the 60's)

So basically I feel comfortable now and thank everyone for their assistance.

    Edit:

I removed the link for some reason once posted it was showing all these other elements.
