Hey guys, I've been having some trouble with my GS70 recently. It has the 870m and whenever i'm playing BF4 the fan on the left side will ramp up really high and then suddenly just stop. It does it constantly and the framerate drops at the same time. Any ideas?

Probably needs repasting of thermal compound. Make sure it's not dusty too, you can use air compressor to clean up the heatsink and vent.

That's going to be a pain haha. As far as I can see it isn't dusty, It's only a couple months old as well. Any other ideas that could help fix it? I was going to try flashing the VBIOS for the GPU?

You can try updating the BIOS and EC firmware first, do not update VGA BIOS unless the BIOS/EC update cannot resolve the issue.

Hmm okay. I'll look into that. I find it strange that the fan actually slows down. You'd think if it was getting too hot the fan would stay running at a fast rpm??

Inefficient heat transfer = Overheat = High fan RPM = Cooler = Normal speed.
Best to look into repasting as well as a secured heatsink installation.

Hmmm so is there no way of setting the fan to stay at a high rpm? Surely that would solve the issue?!?!
