Newegg has the GS70, but the model is a little different than I can find anywhere else (229US versus the 001US or 002US.)
    GS70 on Newegg

Would this be identical to the GS70 20D-001US except for the hard drives? The specs appear to be the same except for the storage, but I cannot find this model anywhere else except Newegg.

I'm ready to purchase, but want to make sure I'm not missing something.

That is a Newegg exclusive model. I cant tell you what the exact differences are but at least you know why you cant find it anywhere else.

I'm actually debating if I should pull the trigger on that model you posted which

    - $1,549 = 12gb ram, 500gb hard-drive + 128gb ssd & Free 50" tv
    - $1,549 = 16gb ram, 750gb hd + 128gb (No Tv)
    - $1,749 = 16gb ram, 1TB drive + 2 x 128gb SSD (Raid 0)

Trying to debate if its worth the upgrade or not, I read somewhere if you open the laptop you void the warranty so that means I can't upgrade the laptop if I decide to get the 12gb/500gb/128gb ssd to more ram and more ssd if i need later on?

I went with the free TV, because 12GB vs 16GB made no difference to me (not planning to run VM's on my laptop) and I'll end up replacing the spinning disk with another SSD anyways.

This may make your decision easier, the price dropped to $1449 on Newegg this morning, and still includes the free 50" TV. Now I have to contact Newegg and get a $100 credit as it was $1549 yesterday.

I've read multiple times that the sticker is merely a warning to those who don't know what they are doing, and the warranty is still valid unless you physically damage something. I have no way to guarantee this statement, but plan to rip the sticker on my incoming laptop.

The sticker is really just a deterrent. You can upgrade the HDD/SSD/mSATA and RAM and the warranty will not be void. Do not mess with the CPU/GPU or their heatsinks as that will void the warranty. And of course as you mentioned any damaged caused while upgrading parts is not covered under warranty.

I originally bought it but cancelled my order this morning when I saw the $100 price drop, didn't want to risk Newegg not crediting me $100 back, Let me know how it goes for you.

    Thanks
