I need some BIG helps here. I received my GS63VR today and the first thing was to upgrade its m.2 SSD to 1TB.

I first powered on laptop just to make sure it works no problem. Then I dissassembled it basically following the steps here: http://www.ultrabookreview.com/12757-upgrade-ram-ssd-msi-gs73/

It wasn't very easy but I got the things done. Before I put back the bottom cover I powered up laptop and with no system installed it booted into BIOS fine. I then hit the power button to shut it down and placed back the bottom cover with screws.

Now to my dismay, the laptop won't power up anymore. I hit the power button and nothing happens at all. I removed the bottom cover and checked everything and it still won't power on. How could I break anything by placing back the bottom cover?

I disconnected the battery, hold on the power button for one minute etc but still nothing. I really appreciate any helps/tips you guys may have to solve this problem.

By the way, I'm used to disassemble and upgrade my own computer/laptops so I'm not a novice although not someone who does it everyday.

Check all of the tiny ribbon cable connections and make sure they didn't get pulled out by accident.

I removed the bottom cover and checked everything carefully multiple times, especially ribbons. Still no luck. Really puzzled why. The laptop shouldn't be so freaky to put it lightly.

Could it be that after it booted into BIOS I shouldn't power down by pushing the power button which somehow got bios corrupted?

I really want this laptop as everything considered the GS63VR fits almost everything I wanted perfectly, except for its terrible design putting m2 and RAM slots on the other side of motherboard.

I know it sounds stupid but when working on my laptop it won't boot off battery after working on it/removing the battery.

Make sure the AC adapter is connected and make sure it's actually connected to the wall power cord. One time mine wouldn't boot and it turned out the AC power cord to the PSU part was slightly out. I slightly panicked lol.

yeah, I did make sure AC adaptor is connected well, the only thing is that I don't have a power meter sort of thing to absolutely confirm the AC adaptor is working. It's hard to believe that is the case but I may check it tomorrow once I have the meter.

I have assembled dozens PC over the years and this is really the first time seems I get bombed..

On the bottom of the laptop there should be a tiny pin hole that is supposed to be a BIOS reset button. Take a paper clip and place that into the hole and it should click a button in the laptop to reset the BIOS. Try holding it for around 30 seconds or so.

But to be honest, this sound more like a power button ribbon cable that is broken or loose. I screwed one up back in the day my GX660 and it booted fine a few times and then just stopped working. If you didn't put it back in properly or failed to lift the security gate to pull it out the cable is easily messed up. They are very hard to find. Luckily MSI took mercy on me and mailed one to me.

Thanks! Just tried BIOS reset, unfortunately no change. I paid close attention to power button ribbon during assembly. I'm certain it's inserted securely and I can't see any visible damage. That's the thing puzzles me.

I also had this problem with the power button ribbon, the one near the HDD (to the left of the two larger ribbons when HDD is lower left). Did you actually take it out and put it back in? (it has to be pushed snug and far in, before you close the gate again, that's what worked for me).

Try booting it with the bare minimum; no storage drives, one stick of RAM. If it starts, add one component back in at a time until you can reproduce it not powering up, assuming it does it again.
