Can anyone recommend additional AC adapters for the GS63VR? Ideally if there is anything a little more compact that would work. I did see that the Razer Blade adapter may have worked with the GS60 in the past for instance.

Anyone with a Razer Blade 165W AC adapter able to test (if the connection is the same)? Know the MSI is 180W but would be great if could leave the 180W at home and have the smaller option on the move.

Failing that I guess its just trying to source another 180W adapter from MSI.

    Cheers, Alex

I was on a trip one time and I had forgotten my power brick for my GT70, I found a Targus universal power adapter was blow the rated power for the laptop. The adfapter came with several tips that fit different brands, one fit my machine and worked great as long as I didn't game. It was much smaller then the 180W and may fit your needs.

You can go with slightly smaller wattage such as 150W or 165W, whichever is available to you.
Note that if you do something intense it can overload the AC adapter and possibly causes your system to shut off suddenly.

Have you used it yet? That's on my wish list but I'm so afraid to use a potentially bad power brick.
Edit: I'm looking at this one for my GT73VR

Was just wondering if the connector size would be the same? The Razer adapter is (like all their stuff) a but pricey but is a nicer size than the MSI one whilst being 165W and likely powerful enough. Could get one for on the move and leave the larger MSI one for home.
    Cheers.

As far as I know, MSI uses the same connector as Toshiba connector, you will need to verify the tip style first with the reseller prior to your purchase.

Just thought I'd add an update. I bought a Leike 90W Ultraslim universal adapter (there were tons of vendors to chose from but there were some good customer service reviews and a European office) and so far very pleased. For those looking at various options then the tip that worked for me with the Leike is the "19V M5 5.5mm x2.5mm" tip.

I'm not using it for gaming (and don't intend to even try) but its ideal for the daily commute; at no point have I seen the battery draining whilst plugged in at work and that is even with the 4K screen at full brightness and a Win10 VM running using RemoteFX on the 1060 GPU. Massive difference in portability and even better works with a figure of 8 power cable (rather than cloverleaf as supplied on the standard) - less of an issue for you in the US but a UK plug is a monster so great being able to also use a "Thin-Plug".

Will report if I have issues. It does run very hot but its very slim to get rid of 90W.

If you aren't doing any gaming you should be alright with 90W, besides you have the battery as buffer.
So if you do enter a game by accident, most likely the AC adapter will stop supplying power due to overload protection and NB will switch to battery mode.
