    Hi Everyone,
I bought one of the new GS63vr-7rf models and have an issue with the spacebar. I use my right thumb to press the space bar and it misses 30+% of my keystrokes. If I press hard it will register the press of the space. Does anyone else have this issue? I've been reading that there is a design flaw on steel series keyboards with the space. Anyone else have this laptop and the spacebar works fine when you lightly press the right side of the key?

    Thanks in advance!

It's a design flaw in the keyboard that affects not only the GS63VR but any MSI laptop that uses that standard steelseries keyboard they use in their higher end gaming laptops. I reported on this issue last year when I did a quick write up on the GT62VR, oddly enough an older GE62 that I had never had the issue but apparently had the same keyboard, but it was possibly positioned differently. The issue is also present on my Eurocom Tornado F5 which is an MSI GT62VR barebones/whitebook.

It also could be limited to people with a certain shaped hand/finger length and/or how we type. I've gotten better at hitting the space bar by retraining the way I type on the keyboard, but I still occasionally miss the keystroke. It's a gaming laptop for me and I do limited typing, but if it was used for typing accurately I would of had a bigger issue with it.

I know I have had to get used to changing the position of my thumb on the keyboard when I got my MSI, to make sure I was hitting the space bar where I needed. A little adjustment and I've been good since then.

Thanks for the responses. The keyboard is on backorder so once it comes in I'm going to swap it out and hope for the best

Just wanted to circle back around. Received a new keyboard from MSI, replaced the bad one, and the space bar is working superbly now. Definitely was a bad keyboard.

Have you had a chance to compare the part number on both keyboard? Assuming MSI did improve the issue and a new part finally became available now.

Sorry, I didn't even think to look. It works just as good on the very far edges as it does in the center now.

That's cool. As long as it works well you're all set. :)
