    Hi,

I'm struggling hard as a dummy with my GS60.
I bought a ASUS PQ321QE which is supposed to support 4k.
After finding out, that the combination "GS60 hdmi output" and "DisplayPort monitor input" is not the best idea I finally ordered two adapters for 4K transfering HDMI to DisplayPort.
However, I am just able to output Full HD to the monitor. I have no option of changing monitor size to 4K.

I bought a high speed 4k cable so that I have all required hardware.

I updated drivers and made different search requests.

Is there any way to setup a 4k output or is this way not supported?

I am very thankful for any hint.

This looks like a limitation of HDMI adapter, can you post the item link here?

    I ordered two:
The one is from Amazon Germany (sorry have no english link so far) but can't testing it until I get a DisplayPort cable. The other one is this $60 adapter which is connected by a hdmi cable between the asus and the monitor.

You would need display port to do it. HDMI can't because it is 1.4 spec. A display port 1.2 active adapter to HDMI 2.0 could do it, or a displayport cable on its own.

But I am also not sure if the intel GPU supports 4K at 60hz to begin with, and as far as I remember, you are limited with nvidia Optimus, now allowing you more than what the intel GPU can handle.

    Yeah thanks ryzeki :)
So I understood it right that the chances to get it running are not very high even if I have the right cables because the laptop itself will probably not support the 60hz mode which is required?

At home I have a GeForce GTX 770 / Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.6Ghz / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX770 - I will check which outputs it has, maybe I can use the monitor there.

Yeah. I think the main problem is that the output is tied to the integrated intel GPU. According to the intel site, the intel GPU "should" be able to display 4k@ 60hz with display port, but you will have to try it to confirm.

You will need display port because HDMI 1.4 does not support 4K@60hz, only at 30hz. Does the GS60 have a mini display port? Use a mini display port to display port adapter, and that should work in theory.

Oh yes ryzeki it does! There is a mini display port I never noticed ^^
I will order the mentioned mini display port to display port adapter and try it out.

And if this will not work I will try to connect my home pc Predator which has display port to the monitor. I am just to find out if this pc supports 4k but a few pages say that it does.

Good luck! In theory it should work :) I already use my 980m with 4k display with a mini display port adapter so I know it works for the graphics card. It depends if the system has any random limit or not. But as already said, everything points that it should work.
