A few months ago, my brother left for a 6 month trip overseas. Before he left, he purchased a new MSI GS60 Ghost 003 laptop for photo and video processing. He loves the laptop, but it recently accidentally fell off a desk and stopped working. He was able to get it to a repair shop, which took it apart and found the motherboard was damaged beyond repair. The repair shop is not able to get a replacement motherboard from MSI, and he's not able to ship the laptop to MSI. He also has limited internet. So, being a tech support guy, he asked me to look around here and see if I could find the mobo and ship a replacement to him. I've had zero luck so far. I have replaced mobos before, but it's always been on more mainstream models, like Dell office laptops. Can anyone here point me to somewhere I could order a replacement motherboard for this model? Thanks for any help.

Has he talked to his reseller or the closest local msi centre? The machine has a 1 year local accident warranty and a 1 year international warranty so while abroad he would have to pay the repair costs but the local centre should work on it at least.

He contacted the MSI headquarters closes to him, which is in Bangalore, India. They told him that they did not have parts to service this model, because it was too new and I guess not sold on the Indian subcontinent. At this point, it's looking like the only option is for him to ship it back to me (in the US) and then I have it repaired and then ship it back to him. It would just be a lot more efficient if I could ship him a motherboard.

Most manufacturers will not send/sell just the motherboards out. If that is your ideal way to go you would probably have to wait for someone to part a broken notebook out and hope to get the motherboard out of it. Since most owners of this model will still be covered under a warranty you may be waiting a while for it. I would have him send it back to you to get repaired here. Make sure he gets that all set up before sending it back and incurring those shipping costs. While it does include accidental damage protection it does require that he registered it within 30 days of its original ship date.
