Hi all,
Maybe someone has come across this issue before. I logged it with MSI support yesterday morning but haven't received anything back from them yet.
I have this MSI GS60 970m (1080p version) for around 6 weeks now. Two nights ago I was watching a video and got the dreaded BSOD. The first 3 times I tried to reboot the notebook just displayed "no media present". The fourth time I tried it booted up as normal. I noticed that the message is also displayed when the machine wakes from sleep - but it only flashes up for 1-2 seconds before successfully loading Windows.
No errors in the event log apart from the uninitiated reboot, but it sounds like an SSD problem to me. Not really sure how to proceed. I would open it and check if the SSD is seated correctly but am surprised to see a warranty sticker covering one of the screws on the notebook base. Would hate to open it to find that it's actually a malfunction and then not be able to get a fix under warranty.
The machine has not been rebooted since the original issue a couple of nights ago - just using sleep mode at the moment - just in case.

Didn't you have your BIOS set to UEFI and a USB key plugged in at the time you had this problem ?

Make sure your boot order is set up correctly in the bios.

Backup your data, and perform a factory reset. -
Thanks for the replies guys.
Thanks again -

MSI has confirmed many times that if you break that warranty seal you will still keep the warranty. Just be careful not to damage anything while opening it up as that will not be covered under the warranty.
Unfortunately though the m.2 SSD are on the opposite side of the motherboard so it would take a complete tear down to get to them. Because of that I would not recommend going that route. -
All solved now though ;-)
Thanks for the help guys.

Ah thought it might, sometimes a glitch can cause a USB drive to alter the boot order.

Next time, press F11 for one-time boot override as temporary solution then you won't need to change it in the BIOS permanently.
