Hello guys. I'm in the market for a new laptop and have decided on the MSI GS65 Thin-259 model. I have already gotten some advice in the "what laptop should I buy section". I was wondering though if I order from HIDevolution is it worth upgrading the drives to the Samsung EVO or PRO 970 or is that what MSI already installs from the factory? If those are not the factory drives what are the read and write speeds of the OEM hard drives in the GS65?
Also under "RAID Options" RAID 0 is the preselected option. Should I leave it at that or should I select the "no RAID" option.

2. For RAID-0, you will need to have two identical SSD, but RAID-0 isn't recommended as you are already running with the fastest SSD (970) and you don't want to lose all of your data when one fails (knock on wood). -
The first thing to do with my GT73VR with Raid 0 was to clone the OS to the HDD (created an identical partition like the OS partition). At first I thought it woud not work as it was sitting on a black screen "forever". The SSD system does boot 10 seconds to the boot selector screen (done with VisualBCD) and then 3 seconds to the desktop. My backup HDD takes 2 -3 minutes to boot to the desktop! But the main thing is to have a working backup - and update it often enough.

RAID was great when you were using it to get more speed out of HDDs, but returns diminish as drives get faster for most users. If you go with fast drives, there's likely no reason for you to bother with it. -

I choose RAID 0 to combine the speed into one large disk so I did 3x 2TB 960 PROs = 6TB partitioned into C: 300 GB for the OS and the rest 5.,5 TB for my data as I like it all in one place
