Hopefully the new style heatsinks will fit the 770M as I don't believe the 770M natively fitting heatsink ever had a bridge, looking at it though it hopefully should.

I hope this heatsink works as well, it seems to match up based on the points of contact. For those who have successfully done this, did you have to upgrade your motherboard BIOS?

    Appreciate your help so far

770m and heatsink side by side

Matching them up, it fits quite good. But not perfect

Wow this was easy, installed the card and gpuz recognised it right away. Windows found the drivers, rebooted and it there it was fully installed. no vbios flash, no modified drivers, nothing.
Also upgraded my cpu to a core i7-2720qm
Here are some pics of install. Thanks guys

After playing around in BF4, i am noticing alot of cpu throttling. My frames would drop drastically and i can see my cpu dropping to 800mhz and back to 3000mhz. I have tried flashing my motherboard bios to xonar's unlocked version and disabling speedstep, and have tried running throttle stop but its not helping. Anyone have any ideas?

    cpu core i7-2720qm

    Thanks

You need to run an on screen display or OSD while in game and display parameters such as GPU frequencies and temps. This will provide real time I formation about hoe your system is performing. This should at least help isolate whether this is a thermal or power issue.

Also please tell me you put thermal pads on the silver voltage things on the GPU. Those should 100% have thermal pads as they can get very hot!

    Hi Talon

I had BF4 running in window mode while keeping an eye on cpuz and gpuz. Temps for both didnt exceed 75c. Gpu was running at full speed but cpu kept fluctuating. Frame rate would drop immediately when cpu dropped to 800mhz. I also noticed that cpu doesn't fluctuate when running cpu stress tests like prime95, only when both cpu and gpu are working simultaneously.

Thanks for the info about the thermal pads, I have not applied to those silver parts. I guess I will have to do that soon, although I don't think the gpu is the problem

My guess is that it could be that 150w power adapter as you mention it only happens when both CPU and GPU are loaded together. I would recommend getting your hands on a 180w adapter.

I have found the problem, i didnt uncheck EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep) in throttlestop. Even though it was disabled on bios (unlocked bios). Another forum member also told me to uncheck BD PROCHOT which disables the thermal throttling. I will continue to keep it checked as my temps are now reaching higher due to cores runnning at max 3.3ghz for my cpu

EDIT: looks like BD PROCHOT has to be unchecked at all times, cpu would throttle even at relatively low temps of 50 - 60c
