Hi everybody,
a couple of months ago I bought a MSI Gx70 without the video card because it was boroken (from overclocking).
so I said that now it's time to buy a video card.. and I found here on the market a dell 7970m.
does anybody know if dell 7970m it's compatible on my laptop ?
does someone tried any other manufacturer on msi ?
thank you

Not claiming to be an expert with this stuff, but afaik MSI GPU's comes directly from nvidia/AMD. If that Dell card was manufactured by nvidia/AMD then there should be no problem.
You should do some research before making any purchase. -

If not, then find out the cost for non-warranty service.
MSI VGA cards are manufactured by MSI themselves using reference design guidelines, and unlike other manufacturers that used proprietary design. -
So.. You are saying that if choose a MSI video card I have much more chances to work..
I found a 5870m on the eBay so I may test it.. -

You will still have compatibility issue with GPU and/or heatsink mounting. -

Yes the heatsink would be different, maybe set up a deal where you can test the card with the seller and post back at your expense if it does not work?

Possibly 17 pins? Maybe, maybe not. If you want to count something, you have to be able to see it. Could you take some pictures using the macro function of your camera? Make sure the image is focused and take photos of the ends as well.

I think that there are 16 pins. -
if there is anyone interested, i managed to install on my laptop a Dell 7970 video card without any problems.
i had some small issues on win7 but on win 8.1 is everything ok.Attached Files:
