Hi, does anyone own a MSI GE620? Can I please get some owner feedback on:

    1. The overall quality of the unit - as in (example): keyboard typing feel, response of trackpad, screen hinge tightness/looseness, screen flex, LCD contrast, etc.

    2. The fan noise - is it considered noisy (I know this is subjective) during (a) idling, (b) light use (example: word processing, browsing Internet), and (c) heavy use (gaming).

In my case, I had so much noise issue from a Dell XPS 15 that I decided to return it. And that's when it is even in idling and light use mode. That unit has fan noise issue which Dell could not help me with.

    3. Does it come with Optimus? I think it does (it runs GT540M) but I cannot be 100% sure. I could not see actual mention of this on the MSI web page. If it does come with Optimus, does it actually work reliably on this MSI?

    4. The quality of the stock speakers - do they sound "tinny" (poorer than usual)? I think there's no subwoofer on this - too "cheap" to be given one.

    5. Are you happy with the unit, or did you perhaps got rid of it for something else?

I did some searches around but there are (1) not many owners of this model, and (2) only a handful of reviews (seems generally negatively...) of this unit. That's why I'm asking here.

My main aim is to use this as a quiet laptop for watching video, general light work (office, browsing, etc.), and occasionally lower-end gaming (I do not play latest & greatest titles). Due to this, I am considering this in place of GT780 as the price difference is quite large.

Thank you very much for your helpful feedback. :)

i have the base model with 6gb of ram the 001us one.
1.keyboard no backlit, but my m require more stress to work since beginning, the keyboard is not really that good on the laptop , the escape button sound weard keyboard is my complain as the plastic that isn't 100% clip fit that would require an additional screw., trakpad is really bugless but the provided drivers wasn't good and a found a more responsive to multitouch on web.,hinge ok IMO, screen flex not that bad, ldc is good .

    2. fan like any 2630q kick up when stress . at idle i find it ok and for internet browsing too. game it goes active mode since it goes to 85 celcius.

    3. no optimus bug , always ok only ty with iE but everybody uses someting else lol.

    4. speak are ok sounding could be maybe more bassy and powerfull but im always on earphone (80%).

    5. since i do not really use graphic much on this this is really beast laptop that kills most of desktop i see often... i get 5.7 Windows experiance it's a shame that nvidia when with drr3 memory on this chip. but it satisfies all my needs.

like the laptop in general, it's super quick when pluged in. get it on ncix.com it 950 but but i paid 850 and it never went as low after it... i would like to smack it sometimes just because of lack of media button.... but .. it's too fast for not dealling with it.

Also looking for info on the GE620-021US. I'm thinking about getting it for school.

How is the battery life? And how much battery can you get using only word processing?
Is the fan loud? Will it kick in if I'm using this laptop during class?
Any serious cons to this laptop (ie keyboard, battery life, fan, heat, display)?

You can get a gx640 with ati 5850 gddr5 for less than 800$.

You can also get an ms-16f2 barebones with 460m for about 800$.

This ge620 sounds like a very bad & badly priced laptop.
