I followed all the instructions on the MSI website and in the end it said the update failed.

Getting nothing, tried take out battery and charger wait 5-10 mins, tried removing CMOS battery and shorting pins, no luck.

    Any help appreciated.

4.23 EC firmware was not meant to be flashed because it's buggy and makes the laptop unstable, or bricked.
I hope you didn't flashed it. If you did afaik there's no way to get it back to life unless you RMA it to MSI.
    Last stable EC was 4.22.

Eh mate I didn't cleared it up, actually this has been said into MSi 16f2 bios thread, but it's written in the pages, so you have to dig it a bit around.
MSI itself said 4.23 can potentially break laptops if those aren't 100% whitebooks (which excludes Medion ones, as they use a custom EC).
    That's all I know.

Hi if you have used the EC Firmware update directly from MSI website then it will brick the laptop completely and the only way it can be repaired is via RMA.

If you have the Whitebook version i.e MS-16F2 barebone it does state clearly on the website not to flash the EC and Bios firmware.

I do have myself the EC Firmware for the MSI version of the MS-16F2 barebone to which i got via MSI Tech support along with the last bios they are releasing which is 3.0R.

Now hopefully you might be able to RMA the system but as it will be a board replacement to get your laptop running again it might be difficult.

Contact your reseller or MSI see what they can do for you.

Kingpinzero was luck when he/she forced EC Flash but if ecal says no can do don't force it.

    Hope this helps.

If you want the EC Firmware for the MS-16F2 from MSI only PM me.

Does anybody know if flashing latest EC 4.24 firmware from MSI is safe? It's listed on the GT683dx/r firmware download page, and I have a gt683dx (config in sig).

Is there any way to find out which EC version is installed?
