Yep I finally decided to do something with my broken GE62 7RF Apcahe pro.
The courier is coming tomorrow to taske it away to the service centre in England somewhere.

It has been gutted - the innards have been transferred to my GE63, the DVD-RW is in an external enclosure. Im sure the service guys are going to hate me but tough cheese, I made it clear this was a shell and all the removable stuff is in my working machine... I dont wan't them to "give" me hardware - just fix/replace and test the board lol...

I'm sure they will quote me something astrtonomical.... hence my fear and trepidation.... it is already costing me money for them to diagnose, but this was expected.

    In a word.... me!

Caused a short/static while trying to redo thermal paste. Thought I was grounded, evidently not:

Replaced it with system in sig but cant afford to have it doing nothing, will either ebay it for parts or recomission after repair and sell it- that is dependent on what they quote me for a new board.... or indeed if it CAN be repaired.

Got two text messages today saying from the reparers saying:

    1) We have received your laptop it is awaiting diagnosis.

    and then 4 hours later:

    2) Diagnosis has been carried out and parts have been ordered.

All very good - between the two text messages, I got a rather cryptic Email from [email protected] telling me my laptop has been "Received in MSI warehouse today and is waiting to be checked and physical received in our system in the next 24 hours.."

Yes the grammar / spelling is as they wrote it....

    Latest,

No idea what has been done. Nobody has said anything about cost and apparently it is on its way back to be delivered today (Monday). I have asked that the courier company leave it at my downstairs neighbour who I trust as they are in nearly all day... I am not home atm.

    Puzzled....

According to the email response I just got, "Our service centre replaced the old motherboard with a new one to rectify the fault."

They have not mentioned anything about repair costs unless there is an invoice in the box

So... I got the laptop back today and apparently it has been done under warranty, they put another warranty (void if removed) sticker on it. Fun thing is that I am going to have to break the sticker as I need to install ram HDD etc, as I gutted it to put in the GE63.
