    Hi!

Backstory: my GT70 0ND 204 US got some problems... The video card (GTX 675M) broke and i bought a new card: this time a ATI HD8970M. Now, the cooler simply don´t stop using the "turbo mode". It´s always on maximum velocity. The system temperature is low; no reason for that boost.

Any thoughts about it? Should I use any program to control the fan (afterburner does not work)?

I would appreciate a little help with this...

PS: I´m using Windows 10 Enterprise and got newer BIOS. Now the boost "only" starts on windows.

    Thanks!

Try Dragon Center - at least on my GT70 0NE I can even turn the fan down to zero while the original rpm was about 3000, sometimes down to 2000ish. My Windows is 8.1 but that Dragon Center is meant to Win10 laptops - no problem.

Dragon center? Does not work. I am starting to believe that my HD8970M is not full compatible with my note... It works, but without sensors... Right?

PS: No sign of my video card

Does it even recognize your changed cad? The fan goes maximum when the GPU is not recognized or breaks down. It is a behavior that has stuck since the original GT60.

GPU looks OK. Installed and working properly. The funny part: it is possible to change the GPU clock and other options but nothing related to fan.

    The bad part: noise.

I don't know if I should continue look for an answer for this problem.

Is there any other "problem" that this would cause?

I wrote Dragon Center - not Dragon Gaming Center! Only Dragon Center has a System Tuner (=fan etc) option.

LOL... Sorry. I will look for dragon center right now!

PS: another strange stuff... When I close the notebook (without turn off), I can't use it just opening and pushing buttons (including on/off). More than that: when the notebook hibernates, the screen stops working. It wakes up but not the screen. When I do that, I have to flash bios then it turns on... lol... Problems and more problems...

PS: Now with dragon center... BUT... It's in polish!!! LOL... Can't do anything inside the program

Download it from MSI Global site, I don't remember from which model I got it; some of the newest I think.

Ok... But, anyway, it didn´t work.

I really don´t know what to do now...

Try a software stand alone named Silent Option for MSI fan controls. You might be luckly. Since these GT series were not designed for AMD GPUs, something might be acting up regarding your BIOS/EC firmware and fan table. Maybe the new GPU does not report the temps like the nvidia did, so it considers temps to be like 0?

I believe Silent Option does not work on windows 10... But, well, I will try it. Probably the GPU does not report the temps... Maybe a broken sensor?

    Let's see...

Which utility did you use to monitor the GPU temperature?

Not a specific one. I´ve used more than 5. No answer. It looks that my fan is not detected by my computer.

Maybe the "incompatibility explanation" is the better answer for what is happening...

Silent option does work in 10, I use it on my GT80 titan under win10 pro.

But I do believe there might be some compatibility issue. These machines were made entirely for nvidia, and they use Optimus, so most likely something is broken in between.
