    Hi,

Bought a GS60 2QE Ghost Pro from Xotic PC in February. Now I have started hearing a whistle that is quite audible from the CPU fan.

When the fan is idle, it whistles (as in the audio file). After blowing it out it became less noticeable at idle, but now whenever the fan speed ramps up it whistles briefly (and more loudly) as the RPM changes. It isn't audible at higher RPMs.

Is this normal or should I send it in? Do other people have this? I have updated BIOS and EC firmware to the latest and it was after that I started noticing it. I am not sure it is related however.

It is very annoying when working in a quiet room.

    Hello,

Sorry to hear about the issues!

have you tried taking off the D panel on the PC and looking at the fan to see if there is anything obstructing it?

Hi, how do I take off the D Panel / what is it? Would be happy to do that.

The D panel is just the bottom panel on the PC, there should just be around 9-10 screws holding it in when you flip the laptop over.

Will removing the D panel void the warranty on the device? Do I need to remove the plastic part situated under the screen as well?

You shouldn't need to remove anything other than the D panel. There may be a sticker on the bottom that says warranty void if this is removed, if you had customizations from us we would have removed it and it would still be covered under warranty. If the sticker is still in place probably best to send it back in.

Okay, I don't have the sticker, I did some upgrades through you before buying it. Might take a look inside, but I take it from your answer that the sound isn't normal or supposed to be there?
