As of last night, I can hear my laptop now processing data. This FX620DX is only about a month old, and usually runs silent, even under intense conditions.

The noise sounds like it is coming from the bottom left, under the keyboard and to the direct left of the touch pad (right under the large msi silver sticker).

I am not sure if this is the CPU or GPU, but this does not seem like a good symptom. Any idea's?

Sometimes it may be header parking noise, you can adjust APM setting to get rid of the noise.
If it's not parking noise, then it could be a bad header which is less likely to happen if this is a brand new machine, however FX620DX is an obsolete model from a long time ago.

Yes, it's likely the drive. Chips don't really produce noise. You can check the SMART status of it with any given third party tool. HDD Sentinel, for example, can tell you the overall health of the drive. If it's a parking issue, you can try this or something similar.
