So I was looking around the xoticpc website and I found there is XOTIC PC FORCE laptop that is i7-4700, GTX 780M and 8GB memory. It costs $1635, (without OS) so after I add Windows 8 it's $1,750.
And we all know the specs of MSI GT70 2OD.
My question is, is it worth buying the FORCE 1763 (780M)? It's basically the same specs but its memory is only 8GB and it costs $250 less compared to the MSI GT70 2OD. Basically all the hardware is similar expect hardware space and memory which i don't mind, but other then that, performance wise etc (noise and heating) is it good?

the main difference is the warranty. you get way better warranty if you purchase the GT70 2OD-064. i think with barebones, you get 1 year. compared to GT70, you will get 2 year and 1 year accidental. you get a slightly better sound system and keyboard i think but other than that you should see about the same in performance.

Warranty is better on the MSI-branded machine, not to mention it has way better bling (it looks better).

Ahh i see, missed it! That makes sense, I guess $250 is worth the MSI warranty.
Thanks guys! Very much appreciate it :)

What I consider a plus on the side of the MS-1763 Whitebook is that it is without Windows 8 pre installed.

If you buy from Gentech,Power Notebooks or Xotic you can opt for a longer warranty and customization.

The biggest drawback for me,since I presently don't reside in the US,is the lack of a global warranty.

Barebones type units are great for those that already own a Windows key and are not afraid to open the notebook to install and change parts themselves.

A barebones also requires the buyer to install the OS,drivers, software and utilities themselves unless you pay to have it done which would defeat a main advantage of buying an MSI Whitebook model.

When I take the plunge in the fall I'll most probably get the MS-1763 from Gentech.
