I want to buy a warranty extension for my new ge60 but reading the condition on msi website I read that the extension can be bought only in the same country where I bought the notebook.

I have found a good offer on eb.y but I would like to know how msi can check where I buy the extension.

The reg number will locate the machine to a specific region.

Ok, but does the warranty extension have a reg number? This is the problem. I've bought the laptop in germany and I'm going to buy the extension in uk.
According to the information I have found on internet the warranty extension is only identified by a number like g57-n1xxxxx2-cb8, that is the same for every extension found in stores of different countries.

You can only get the warranty extension in the country you bought it.

Your notebook serial number and model number identifies the country it is from.

I am sorry but I think you don't understand my question. The problem is not the notebook but the warranty extension, two different products, sold separately.
You say ' You can only get the warranty extension in the country you bought it.' and that's right but how msi checks if I bought the warranty extension in the same country of the laptop?
In my opinion msi cannot verify that thing because the warranty extension is the same everywhere, its ID number is the same in each country.

    Ok let's run it through.

You have to register the warranty extension with the notebook, but let's say it lets you match a UK warranty extension with the number of the machine.

As soon as you sent it in this would be picked up.

I think what Meaker is saying is: When/if you send the laptop in for repair, it will go to the Germany service center. MSI may need proof of purchase of your extended warranty, so when you send in your laptop with a copy of your invoice for the warranty, the Germany service center will see you purchased the warranty from the UK.

I received the extension card and I registered it without any problems so it is universal, there isn't a ID code for every country and MSI doesn't ask for purchase proof.

They may do if you ever have to use the warranty though.
