In summary:
- The CPU one core overheating issue is because of a dud CPU. A de-lid and a Conductonaut repaste between the die and the IHS fixed the issue.
- The heat sink and CPU/GPU connections are all re-pasted with Kryonaut, the temperature changed as follow:
- Intel XTU 10 minutes stress test yielded no thermal throttling with stock all core turbo at 3.9 GHz with temperatures topping out at around 80 degrees.
- With the same repaste, the same stress test in November of 2019, exactly 18 months later, the 10 minutes stress test ran warmer at 88 degrees. With overclocked all core turbo at 4.2 GHz, it ran into light and sporadic thermal throttling while running steadily between 89 degrees and 97 degrees.
There will be more updates to this as I redo the thermals again in the coming few months by changing out the liquid metal and heat sink pastes, as well as drilling holes on the back cover directly under the fans to get more airflow.

It's been done before to a beneficial effect. I'm nowhere near at the level of expertise to come up with my own original ideas; I'm just copying others.
