This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I tried to use VeraCrypt to encrypt the laptop, without success.

    Apparently they replace the firmware entries in the NVRAM with their own and I use BCDBoot / bcdedit to set the firmware entries in the device’s NVRAM to reflect the number of the boot drives, I have several.

    so with VC I lose the ability to multi-boot.
