    Hello,

Some people have talkingg about the problem in the keys i,o, p, k , l, m, , , ., with less light than the others keys in the keyboard.

My GT 780R have this issue.

I will show how to fix it easy.

My english is terrible, but I hope you get the idea.

The light pass to the keys from one photocondutor film uunder the keyboard. in this low light area ir is less fixed than in other areas.

to fix, you just need press a little the keys to the film stick (attach) and after put a tape to mantain in sticked (attached).

    steps

First, look if not avoid your country waranty made this.

made it for your own risk.

    1 - umount the keyboard.

2 press the keys with more light power. AltGR, Win and Ctrl

    ...

in this time you will see the keys with the right light.

3 - now get a tape and get a pice of it.

Put the tipe under the area of was low light and helping the flat cable not pull the under area.

Remember. turn off your computer. I made it on to made the pictures showing the light but it is not a good idea.

ok, when I have time I will do it.

but, if you press the AltGr key with a bit more power, you will see the light in the other keys and get the idea easy.

Thank you ice2642 for helping us out with this. I think I would have understood more if I saw a picture of the tape attached under the keyboard. It may be obvious if I actually do this. A video would be awesome if you get the chance.

Nicely done ice. :) I would like to see some pics from the inside of the laptop with the tape attached just to see where you put it.
Who knows, maybe the resellers can do this step for us if they find this useful

the tape attach the flat cable to it not pull and unattach the area that you press in the keys AltGR, windows and Ctrl.

I believe in the assemble the flat cable made the problem when the guy put the keyboard, it maybe pull the keyboard light film and make the problem.

    I hope now you understand.

Anyone who have tried it who can verify that it works? And any resellers that have emailed this thread to any MSI techs?

i have my gt780r with msi right now for this and a few other problems. they've had it for a couple days already, and the tech told me that they would either repair it or replace the whole unit (don't know if he meant the whole laptop unit, or just the whole keyboard unit).

i'm very unhappy about my laptop's problems, but i must admit, msi is very easy to work with and very responsive. i hope they make things right. i'll post up updates as things progress in case some of you are curious of the outcome.

if you look at the control bar (just above the function keys areas) you'll see very small indentations. pry up in those sections carefully and it pops up.

Nice IMO the GT780R is the best looking gaming laptop on the planet right now. It look classy enough where it won't stand out as a gaming notebook yet it has enough feature to warrant it as a gaming notebook.

Dang, too bad I'm opting for a Sager.

I'm still not entirely clear on the fix for this. I took my keyboard off the laptop, pushed on the alt gr key as hard as I could and didn't really notice much of a difference (however the affected keys are noticeably less bright). If you could explain exactly what the problem is, I didn't really understand what you meant by it tugging on the cable earlier.
There is a data cable lying under the keyboard when you pop it off but I don't understand how this affects the backlighting, the mechanism for which I assume is inside the keyboard.

Basically, can I get a slightly more comprehensible review of what is going on and how to fix it, where to put the tape and all that.
    thanks
