Does anyone know if such an E7405 disassembly guide or service manual exists out there? I'm trying to find out if I can (a) upgrade my lcd screen to something higher resolution and non-glossy, and; (b) put a bd-rom drive in it instead of the supermulti.

    Thanks!

Thats the MSI GX740 AKA ms-1727

Yes you can upgrade the screen to any 16:10 17" CCFL screen.

Unfortunately there are no guides that cover the LCD disassembly. But, all you need to do is remove the 2 rubber caps on the bottom corners, and remove the bezel, the rest should be fairly simple.

I did upgrade my screen to WUXGA (1920x1200) semi-glossy Samsung panel. PM me your e-mail address, I will send You a GX720 disassembly guide (it's basically the same chassis as E7405). Among other things, the guide explains how to put the LCD apart (with pictures).
