And wanted to get some opinons![]()
So Chaz found a great laptop for my needs, that compares to another laptop that I want (NP5320) but he directed me towards the MSI-1039. Looks very nice and a little light than the other laptop. So I came here to see what kind of facts I could get![]()

I dont know if I hit every hardware part, so can someone inform me if im missy something? Any recommendations for cooling, processor etc?
Any common problems with this "series"?
How loud does the AMD processor get compared to the M? Does it get high? Or the same?
Any similar laptops going for these kinds of prices with this kind of hardware?
Thanks, if you could just put some input that would be great!

And I do reliaze that its not out yet
sucks!

While it's not out yet, I can say that you don't need that cooling system/pad (although it'd be nice) or that Creative Sound Card. The heat sink and fan should work fine by itself, but if you don't mind lugging around a cooling pad, then your system will be extra cool. The included sound should also be fine, unless you're an audiophile. In that case, go for the sound card as well. The AMD Turion should be pretty darn similar with the P-M in all aspects. It's one fine processor.
Something that I would use on your heat sink is Arctic Silver 5. Keep your notebook cool with a $5 tube of paste.
Then again, if you're not building it yourself, then avoid the second part of my post. -
Looks good, at a decent price. The only problem is getting it released. We're all waiting. A few websites are taking advanced orders, but no one can deliver yet.
There are some rumors out that it will also be available in WSXGA+, WSXGA, or WXGA+. You may want to concider a higher resolution, IF it is available when they are finally released.
Do you know what wireless chip it comes with too? I'm not sure if you need bluetooth at all. Just something to concider.
Do you mind telling me where you found it for this price? -
Any idea what the "retail" price is going to be...or is it going to be the same as avadirects?
-
Found it on avadirect.com
BUmp for answers! -
what do you mean by "retail" as opposed to avadirect's price?
-
I was thinking that avadirect selling prices were completely different to MSI's. Thus thinking, I thought that avadirect's prices would go up if MSI's did too. But never mind got the answer to my own problem.

I would add an atheros wifi card. I don't know if msi supports it, but people are giving great feedback to it in other Notebooks. You can only buy it in ebay for 60 bucks.
Also, you might be able to get the TURION MT-44 - 2.4 ghz, the release date should be in june, and it would give you a ~10% performance boost (???). -
I have no clue if there including the MT-44 in it? Maybe they will, if they do, its going in. Im trying to make this a badass laptop.
-
I thought they were stopping the MT socket 754 at MT-40. Only the ML's are going ML-44. The MSI-1039 only supports the MT, not the ML.
Unless AMD is continueing the 754 socket chips because they delayed the X2's. I'm not trying to start a rumor here, just speculating. -
i think in the amd roadmap it shows a MT-44.
Here's one website telking there will be an mt-44 in 2006:
