they don't recommend it

Well i called them and they say it will be fine...What can go wrong?
-
I can think of 2 things that could go wrong. Each one can make your unit a piece of junk.
1. The 35 watt ml turion will produce too much heat for the laptop to handle and the system will constantly overheat.
2. The powersupply is designed to only put out so much power and the extra 10 watts at maximum levels could fry the system.
But if they thought of this ahead there shouldn't be any problems. I am also very interested in this topic because I am cheap and what to get the top of the line ml series instead of a less powerful mt series for almost the same price. -
And.... why would you want a higher consuming ML over an MT?
a 1.8ghz mt is equal in performance to a 1.8ghz ml...
and so on and so forth...
is a few bucks really worth the battery life? and the extra heat? from what I can dig up.... the difference between an ML-40 and an MT-40 is..... *drumroll* $20 -
For me, the difference is MUCH bigger. An ML-40 is $220, while an MT-40 is $265. $45 is a lot. Enough for an MSI bluetooth Mini PCI Card and an an anti static wrist band. Also, the ML series currently has more options, such as the 2.4GHz ML-42 and ML-44, with 512KB and 1MB L2 cache, respectively. MT series currently only goes to MT-40.
Since I'm probably getting an MS-1036, what processor should I get next year? I wanted 1.5 to 2 hours+ of battery life, and was deciding between a Mobile Athlon 64 4000+ (2.6 GHz), or an ML-44 (2.4 GHz). The ML-44 is $400, while the Athlon is $300. Which do you think I should get? What's the approximate battery life for each. -
I'd stick with the MT-40 dude.. $135 (against the ML-44) for .2ghz is a lot of money... use it on ram or better storage. You'd get better performance on more ram or a faster HDD.
Just my 2 bits -
Does the MSI-1039 Going To Support 35W Turions?
